Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
With links to local environmental projects and also the many small things that is does to reduce its own environmental impact the Thoulasith guesthouse is very environmentally aware.
- Uses solar energy for heating all its water, when the weather allows. Reduces the impact on the environment by limiting its dependency on fossil fuel and hydroelectrically generated energy
- Limits the water waste. By asking its customers to place an empty bucket under the shower to catch the cold water as the water is heating.
- Keeps all guest rooms as non smoking. By having no smoking rooms, this preserves the life of the rooms meaning curtains and bedding don't need to be replaced as often and walls don't have to be repainted as regularly. By reducing these cleaning materials and costs, hotels with a no smoking room policy reduce the amount of harsh cleaning chemicals and detergents, water, energy and paint that is used on an annual basis as well preserving the life of the room and its furnishings therefore reducing excess consumption of all elements.
- Only changes bedding linen on request. Reduces the impact on the environment by reducing cleaning materials and costs, hotels with this policy reduce the amount of harsh cleaning chemicals and detergents, water and energy that is used on an annual basis.
