The Thongmixay guesthouse is a family owned and run guesthouse and is currently managed by the mother of the family Mrs. Chansome. The daughter previously studied English in Luang Namtha and now runs a restaurant just down from the guesthouse and the father of the family is director of National News for Vieng Phouka.

The Thongmixay Guesthouse takes the following measures to try and minimize their impact on the local environment:
- Only changes bedding linen on request. Reduces the impact on the environment by reducing cleaning materials and costs, hotels with this policy reduce the amount of harsh cleaning chemicals and detergents, water and energy that is used on an annual basis.
