Caring for Destination
Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
Enviromental and Cultural Awareness
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
The Vieng Phouka Eco-Guide Trekking Service takes the following measures to try and minimize their impact on the local environment and promote, conserve and maintain local culture and traditions:
-Works with local ethnic minorities to promote sustainable tourism and to ensure minimal impact on the environment and culture of the host community. Guaranteeing viable, long-term economic operations and providing socio-economic benefits to all stakeholders that are fairly distributed. Including stable employment, income-earning opportunities, social services to host communities and contributing to poverty alleviation.
-The Nam Ha National Protected Area contains many endangered species including the Indo-Chinese Tiger. The Vieng Phouka Eco-Guide Trekking Service educates travellers about these species helping to raise awareness and therefore sustaining the biodiversity of the Nam Ha Protected Areas. The Local villagers in turn learn that the animals of the Nam Ha Protected Area are a valuable resource helping to bring in funds from eco-tourism.
Any participants in this trek should meet at the trekking agents at 8:15am.
