Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 

The Chantimmeng Guesthouse takes the following initiatives to care for the destination: 

- Displays educational posters for foreign guests on the cultural Do's and Don'ts in Laos to help maximize the visit for both the visitor and the local. By taking note of these appropriate cultural behaviours and acting respectfully towards the local community, you will enhance your experience and not offend anyone.

- Has scarves for sale made by the local ethnic tribes, proceeds of which go to help local ethnic tribes.

- Keeps all guest rooms as non smoking. By having no smoking rooms, this preserves the life of the rooms meaning curtains and bedding don't need to be replaced as often and walls don't have to be repainted as regularly. By reducing these cleaning materials and costs, hotels with a no smoking room policy reduce the amount of harsh cleaning chemicals and detergents, water, energy and paint that is used on an annual basis as well preserving the life of the room and its furnishings therefore reducing excess consumption of all elements.
