Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
Energy and Environmental Conservation
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Adounsiri Guesthouse takes the following measures to try and minimize their impact to the local environment and community:
- Keeps all guest rooms as non smoking. By having no smoking rooms, this preserves the life of the rooms meaning curtains and bedding don't need to be replaced as often and walls don't have to be repainted as regularly. By reducing these cleaning materials and costs, hotels with a no smoking room policy reduce the amount of harsh cleaning chemicals and detergents, water, energy and paint that is used on an annual basis as well preserving the life of the room and its furnishings therefore reducing excess consumption of all elements.
- Encourages guests to minimize energy use by displaying a sign in each guest room to advise guests to switch off all lights, fans and electricity when not in the room or when not necessary. By turning off lights and fans when not in your room you are cutting down on countless energy consumption and costs.
- Displays educational posters for foreign guests on the problems of illegal wildlife trafficking in Laos and what you can do to prevent this happening if you see endangered species.
